Mailers Council Reacts to
Proposed Postage Increase

Spokesperson Available

WASHINGTON, November 10—Robert E. McLean, executive director of the Mailers Council, a coalition of the nation's largest mailers, is available for comment immediately following Monday’s expected release of the Postal Rate Commission’s (PRC’s) recommended decision to the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors on proposed postage rate increases.

The recommended decision is a complex document in which the PRC reacts to hundreds of proposed postage price changes recommended by the Postal Service on January 11. In the subsequent 10 months the PRC held numerous hearings and reviewed testimony. On Monday, November 13, the PRC will announce whether it concurs with the prices proposed by the Postal Service, or whether they should be changed. The Governors may approve, reject or modify that recommendation before announcing the effective date for new rates.
