Coalition for a 21st Century Postal Service to Hold a Media Briefing Teleconference on Postage Rate Increase on May 4, 11:00 a.m. ET.

 

WASHINGTON, DC, May 3, 2006— The Coalition for a 21st Century Postal Service will hold a media briefing teleconference on the postage rate increase the United States Postal Service announced today, and that will raise the price of postage 8.5% on average.

 

WHO: The Coalition for a 21st Century Postal Service, who members represent all mailing interests in the $900 billion mailing industry--printers, paper companies, newspapers, magazine publishes, catalogers, financial institutions, nonprofits,  and direct marketers--which represents 9 million American jobs. A representative group of members will be on the call and available for comment.

WHY: To explain the effect of this postage rate increase on businesses and nonprofit organizations that depend on a reliable and affordable mail system, and to discuss how legislation pending before Congress could make future postage rate increases smaller and less frequent.
